History

Ken-Tex est, Aug 19th 1984 since then, customers come to Ken-Tex saying, "Sure smells good in here!" The rotisserie pit hickory smoked barbecue draws customers from miles around and keeps them coming back time and again. Ken-Tex B-B-Q opened with a match made in heaven. A Shelbyville girl (Ken) met and married a Texas police officer (Tex). The name was a natural choice: Ken-Tex. In 1987 the couple hired a 15-ear old, Ryan Price, to work for them. In 1992, another Texan bought Ken-Tex and Ryan managed the restaurant. In 1997, Ryan’s dad bought Ken-Tex and the family-owned business continues to serve their variety of Kentucky and Texas style barbecue with a unique flavor and tenderness. A great source for tailgating and party food, Ken-Tex caters all business and personal events. A special service for hunters, Ken-Tex does custom cooking orders, and for the holidays, they’re famous for smoked hams and turkeys. The Ken-Tex secret comes from the Texas influences. It involves smoking the meat for long hours so our family invites your family to come and try us out.
